Let’s Make Nonna’s Pasta Salad

Do not question the rubbing of garlic, salting like the sea, seasoning to your heart’s content or slapping of the basil. We do what Nonna says in this kitchen. Even if she isn’t our Nonna mmkay?!

To clarify, not my Nonna, but someone else’s Nonna that taught my friend who then brought this pasta salad over last weekend, who gave me this recipe which I have been obsessed every since. So yah. Not my Nonna.


Ingredients

  • Pasta

  • Garlic

  • Cherry tomatoes

  • Parmesan

  • Basil


Recipe

Step 1

Salt 🧂 the water like the sea 🌊. Cook your pasta a little past al Dante.

Step 2

Rub a smashed garlic clove all over the container.
DO NOT skip this step, this is the secret.

Step 3

Dice garlic (to taste).

Step 4

Halve tricolour cherry tomatoes.

Step 5

Toss in garlic rubbed container and pour in pasta

Step 6

Grate Parmesan and toss well.

Step 7

Slap your basil and tear it up. You heard that right.
Slap it so the basil oils will emit more fragrantly. And don’t chop your basil. You MUST tear.

Step 8

Serve, enjoy and kiss the closest Nonna you can find.
