How to Make Rice Paper Flowers Chips
Make these easy but impressive rice paper flowers bloom for Valentine’s, Galentine’s or as a garnish for your next dinner party! You can also eat them on their own as chips!
These pretty flowers are so easy to make and they have a light crisp!
This recipe was inspired by @foxytrash.
Ingredients
rice
coloured dye
vegetable oil
rice paper
Equipment
Rice Cooker
Scissor
Pot
Bowl
Ladle/tongs
Chopsticks
STEP 1
You’ll need two layers, one larger at the bottom and the smaller on top for each flower. Then you’ll want to create the petals by cutting slits into your rice paper.
TIP
You can cut your rice paper into quarters and then cut them into smaller circles for the inner petals. I find that it looks best when you make eight cuts.
Step 2
Use cooked rice as your adhesive for your two layers of rice paper. Dye the rice with food colouring or even spices to create the colour. You can use turmeric for yellow or plum powder for pink/ purple.
STEP 3
Layer the bigger rice paper circle on top of the smaller rice paper circle by using the dyed rice. Add another spoon of dyed rice in the middle as the centre of your flower.
STEP 4
Heat up your pot of vegetable oil on medium high. Then carefully place your rice paper flower into the hot oil with a pair of tongs. They should bloom right before your eyes!
Tip
Test your oil to see if it’s hot enough by placing a piece of rice paper in. It should puff up immediately when it’s ready.
STEP 5
Ladel them out of the oil and set aside to cool and drain.
Feel free to use as a garnish for your meals or to eat them on their own as chips. You can even make some sauce with it as well. I think Yuzu sauce would taste amazing with it!
