How to make a Fridge Gallery Wall
Whimsical DIY for your kitchen
DIYing a fridge gallery wall is so easy, I’m surprised more people don’t do this. It’s the perfect way to add some personality and whimsy to what might otherwise be a blank slate!
Here’s what you’ll need:
Mix of medium & small frames
Spray paint of choice
Magnets
Gluegun
cute fabric
scissors
Linking everything I used here
Step 1: Get your frames together
I picked up these frames from my local thrift store! Can you believe that this haul was only a couple dollars? While normally I wouldn’t dream of painting over the natural wood, I wanted a mix of warm wood and metallic frames to stand out against my otherwise boring stainless steel fridge. The bright pink did not match the colour scheme so I spray painted the frame with Rustoleum’s Gilded Brass paint.
Step 2: Add a cute matting
I love adding matting to my frames to break up the gallery wall. It’s also a great opportunity to introduce some pattern and texture to the mix. Depending on your mood, pick up a cute pattern of fabric and overlay it on your frame. It’s the perfect touch!
TIP: Maybe you have a shirt that was destined to be a rag or your child outgrew a cute patterned shirt, you can cut that up to wrap as matting for your frames too!
Step 3: Magnetize
Next, its time to add our magnets. I got these small magnets from Amazon that would fit my thin frames and used my handy wireless glue gun to attach them! Be careful about the surface of your fridge though. Depending on the material it may scratch if you drag the magnets across.
Next it’s time to style your fridge! There are so many cute additions you can make to your fridge gallery wall! On top of printing out pictures you can also make a little vase and put some flowers in it, or magnetize a cute little trinket!
I love this project because it feels so charming and whimsical to add a mini gallery wall to an otherwise cold and boring appliance. Plus including photos to our home is such a lovely way to personalize a space. I’m so happy with this DIY because it was so easy and affordable!
