Christmas Home Tour 2023
Welcome to theKwendyHome 2023 Christmas tour! We’re so happy to have you here. I’m so excited to show you around. Come on in!
I wish we could hang out in person together but this seems to be the next best thing. I hope you enjoy your stay here! Most photographed by the amazing @Janet Kwan. You can book her services through her website at www.janetkwan.com
I tried to link as much of the decor as I can. Please note that I earn a small commission if you purchase off my links at no cost to you. Thanks for supporting us this way!
The Front Porch
We start off at our front porch. Growing up, I always dreamed about hanging Christmas lights and wreaths outside like the family from Home Alone. I’m getting closer every season. I’m just missing that metal statue that gets knocked over every time.
I want everyone to walk in through these doors and feel a sense of nostalgia and like they are coming home.
Stairway
This year I styled my banister really simply with a few bought of faux garland. They’re super lush and I have them everywhere. It’s the Norfolk Pine Natural Touch Garland and I had interwoven the magical stargazer tendrils lights and a touch of Antiqued Frayed Velvet Ribbon.
Damage-Free Hanging Garland Hack
Right off the entryway and stairs is the front room. I put up a garland with a new hack I shared this year that went super viral. I’ve had news outlets and TV stations ask me about it which is wild!
But anyone who doesn’t want to drill a hole in your wall to hang a temporary garland for a month or two need to learn this trick. This tension shower rod hack makes hanging garlands with lights much simpler and save your neck from aching! Don’t forget to add an accent garland for that extra detail.

Bar Cabinet
With the help of Shippsy, I was able to gift K an Amber Lewis for Anthropologie Bar Cabinet from the States. To his delight, K now displays his favourite finds as he hunts for bourbon.
But for movie nights for the foreseeable future I think I’m going to turn it into a hot chocolate and popcorn station! How handy will that be?!
Front Room
Now onto the front room. I get a lot of questions on my decision to have two couches facing each other when there is a TV on one side. Well, after using this room for over two years, we realized that we liked this room as a conversational area! We purposefully got a Frame TV so that we can display art when it’s just used for entertaining. However, when it’s just the two of us, we watch TV in here on the side that faces the television!
I feel like this room got an extra oomph of that Christmas spirit with the Red Pompeii Checked Border area rug. The burgundy checkers really takes this room to the next level. especially with the green limewash walls (it’s Bauwerk Colour’s Broadbean) and hints of blue in the curtains.
I also added a Tuscan Copper Frame to our Samsung’s Frame TV that compliments the room and makes it more enjoyable to look at art and movies.
Everything is more magical with a few strands of curtain lights behind the TV. I love it so much.
Can’t find the TV remote? I’ve hidden them aesthetically in the Creative Co-op Canvas Book that may hold other sweet surprises too.
I loved making this Christmas tree have a woodland and cottage feel using Paper Mache Mushrooms and Gus Gus’ relatives with a floating train to the North Pole! Check out the blog post on how we made those home made mushroom ornaments in the blog post linked above!
I kept the stars all white in this room - some were DIYS and others were from IKEA and Crate and Barrel three years ago. I kept the snowflake and star motif going throughout the home.
Dining Room
I’ve been using my floating centrepiece DIY for every season because it looks so so nice! I customized and hung floating tapered candles that is controlled by a magic wand, so cool, along with more Stargazer lights that allude to a celestial theme you’ll find in my family room. It’s the star of the dining room if I do say so myself.
Check out my floating centrepiece DIY tutorial here!
I continue to enjoy this lovely corner from the Bellewood Wallpaper, but now with the addition of the Haven Buffet that provides so much storage beautiful while matching with our dining chairs.
I keep all our serving ware, linen and fancy cutlery in this buffet. Our record player also sits on top of it.
The Gallery Wall continues to display wonderful artwork with a warmer glow. If you’re interested In how I installed my gallery wall, check this out!
Kitchen
We’re finally in the heart of the home, the kitchen. I kept it simple here with some greenery and more paper snowflakes and stars.
The kitchen shelves are one of my favourite places to decorate any time of year. I kept the colour pallet pretty neutral but I am a maximalist at heart. I feel like if I kept my decor neutral in colour then I can add more to my shelves haha!
I haven’t forgotten Gus Gus, in fact, he’s been given more attention lately! Our in house mouse chef has more furniture and company!
I hung DIY mushroom garland and golden foliage from my upcycled Christmas garland in the kitchen too that echos the front room’s woodland theme. Both of these garlands are easy and affordable Christmas DIYS!
If you didn’t know already, I actually “made” these shelves myself! Check out my DIY!

Family Room
We end in the family room by the fireplace to reveal our wintery celestial Christmas tree inspired by Anthropologie! I tried to recreate the look with star garlands and snowflakes from last year that can double up looking like stars. I also used baby breaths as tree picks. They dried out really nicely and adds that ethereal feel to the tree. I also made some DIY moons out of tomato paste tubes and it is made even more magical by the glow from Stargazer Cacade Falls and Stargazer Tendril Vine Lights.
This year I wanted to an add new Christmas village and used various sized tin homes on our mantel. I imagine it to be like a little village under a snowy starry sky!
